Attractions in the Pisgah Forest Area.

This section contains information and links to some of the attractions available to you on your visit to western North Carolina and the Pisgah Forest.

Within the Pisgah Ranger District there are several 'must do' attractions. The first is the Cradle of Forestry and the Forest Discovery Center. This historic site operated by the Forest Service is the site of the first forestry school in America. You can easily spend a half day touring this wonderful facility. Another great place to visit is the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education. This facility also houses a state fish hatchery and is a starting point for great fishing experiences and some wonderful hikes. Click here for more information and hours of operation.

The Pisgah District is bisected by a sliver of National Park Service land that contains the Blue Ridge Parkway. One attraction on the parkway is the well known Pisgah Inn. The Transylvania Heritage Museum preserves the rich historical heritage of Transylvania County and its families through exhibits, educational programs, collections of artifacts, and heritage/cultural activities. Web site link.

The Allison-Deaver House in the town of Pisgah Forest. A restored pioneer mountain home that has remained unspoiled by modern renovation for almost 200 years. Learn more here.
